Crack Sealing

Hot Rubberized Crack Sealing is the process of applying a rubberized sealant into existing cracks in the asphalt pavement. The filler provides a barrier to stop water infiltration into the pavement sub-base.

Sunlight oxidation of the asphalt oils and the freeze/thaw cycles of the Midwest, cause shrinkage of the pavement surface. This causes the asphalt to crack allowing water to reach the pavement underlayment, leading to base erosion. A proper crack sealing maintenance program will help prevent deterioration, extending the life of your asphalt investment.

Steps in the Crack Sealing Process – (Routed):
  1. The cracks are routed to create a reservoir.
  2. Cracks are cleaned with 3,000 degree heated compressed air for crack preparation.
  3. Filling and banding of cracks with a hot rubber sealant.
